East Porter is excited to inform you about an important initiative that our school corporation is considering – the development of a preschool program. Your input is crucial in shaping this endeavor, and we would greatly appreciate a few moments of your time to complete this survey. Due to unforeseen circumstances, East Porter will not have a quorum for tonight’s board meeting, with only three members available. We will meet briefly, but no official business will be conducted. The meeting will be postponed, and a new date will be announced once determined.
These East Porter first graders are participating in a PLTW Launch lesson on sunlight and weather, where they are planning and developing models using the design process. Their creativity, problem-solving, and processing skills are a wonder to observe!

East Porter introduced PLTW Launch for grades K-5 this year. It is designed to tap into students' exploratory nature 🧐, engage them in learning that feels like play 🤩, and encourage them to keep discovering 🔍. The program will implement STEM thinking and activities to help build future skills for our students.

The PSAT and SAT School Day assessment dates are coming soon! Schoolhouse.world is a non-profit started by the founder of Khan Academy, that provides free peer tutoring over Zoom. Join their 4-week SAT Bootcamp and receive guidance from a peer tutor who is freshly familiar with the SAT and has a verified score in the 95th percentile. East Porter is proud to celebrate our very own Mrs. Rachel Hannon, a retiree from Morgan Township, as a Golden Hoosier Award recipient today! We all know East Porter is full of special people and Mrs. Hannon is a wonderful example of that! Congratulations, Mrs. Hannon!!
It is College Go! Week. During this week, students can apply to all participating colleges and universities for free. This annual effort encourages students to apply to Indiana colleges before early application deadlines, allowing students a greater chance of receiving institutionally-awarded financial aid. Participating institutions have agreed to waive their application fees this week to help eliminate barriers during the college application process.

October is National Farm to School Month. Although it’s a little early, East Porter has celebrated the Great Apple Crunch event by serving locally grown apples in our cafeterias. Elementary students have decorated the Cafeterias with their art work. We’ve also served some different apple sides. We look forward to featuring locally grown pumpkins in October!
