East Porter students currently in 5th - 11th grades will bring their Chromebooks home for summer learning. Students will keep their devices during the summer of 2024. Keeping their device promotes student ownership of devices and drastically reduces the amount of instructional time lost to collecting and distributing Chromebooks each year.
You will also notice information about Varsity Tutors. We just entered a partnership with them that they provided to us free of charge that can offer students opportunities over the summer. Feel free to check them out and use them as you'd like in your classroom and to support students. It is now on the Clever login platform.

Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade band members for receiving a rating of "Excellent" at last Saturday's Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags.
Sunday our students in grades 6-12 on the East Porter County Shotgun Team met at Oakwood to compete against other schools in the state. Our team consists of students from Kouts, Morgan, and Washington Township. These kids shoot at 50 clay targets to get the best score out of 50. Being a part of this team allows these kids scholarship opportunities and so much more.
Our third week of scores had the following results for the kids
Washington (6 kids total)
Top Shooter Male: Andrew Dykstra 42.
Top Shooter Female: No female shooters

STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...
Congratulations to Madalyn Frederick for being recognized by the WT Student Athletic Advisory Committee as Athlete of the Week for her efforts in softball. Madalyn consistently puts in the work both on and off the field, showcasing her determination during every practice and game. Despite being a freshman, her role at third base demonstrates her skill and confidence. She leads the team in both on-base percentage and stolen bases. She has a positive attitude and work ethic, setting a high standard for herself and her teammates.

IT'S A NEW TRACK RECORD!
Congratulations to 8th grader Janet Meade for breaking the 27 year-old 100 Meter Dash Record set in 1997 by Erin McKeny. Janet bested the previous record by a tenth of a second to lower the time to 13.0 seconds. Great Job Janet! On You Senators!
