The boys C team basketball game vs John Glenn has been canceled for this evening, this was a home game.
The 6th grade girls Basketball game at Boone Grove Middle School has been canceled and a reschedule is TBD.
The IHSAA would like to recognize the sportsmanship and competitive spirit displayed by Washington Twp. Senators’ #15, Jackson Smith, during the non-conference matchup on February 8, 2025. Jackson exemplified leadership on the court, showing respect for their teammates, opponents, and the game itself. His positive attitude and commitment to fair play were appreciated by the officiating crew.
Ivy Tech Community College-Valparaiso Campus is hosting College Goal Sunday per our Financial Aid Department on Sunday, February 23, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. CST. Students and families attending need to create the Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) at studentaid.gov prior to the event. This will ensure things go smoothly on the day of the event.

The Lady Senators defeated Morgan Township las night in IHSAA Sectional semi final action. They will take on Michigan City Marquette tonight Saturday, February 8 at 6:30 PM at Thea Bowman Leadership Academy in Gary. We will once again offer a fan bus and hope to fill it up to support the Senators. The bus will leave from WTMHS outside Door #1 at 5 PM tomorrow evening. Please sign up here:

The Student Athletic Advisory Committee is recognizing Varsity Dancers Faith Dickens and Alivia Boyd as Athletes of the Week. These seniors have shown outstanding leadership and put in great effort for the WT Dance Team. Faith and Alivia are role models for their teammates with their hard work and positive attitudes.

East Porter Schools are on a 2-Hour delay today, February 6, 2025.
Meet Porter! Porter is a comfort dog for the Porter County Sheriff's Department. His handler, Lieutenant Jason Praschak, serves as SRO for Washington Township a few times a month. Porter spent the day being loved on by staff and students alike.
Due to the projected inclement weather this evening, it has been decided to reschedule tonight's Girls Basketball Sectional games. Updated Schedule will be Kouts vs Washington Township 6:00 pm Thursday, February 6th.

These were two activities in Mrs. Shepard's classes introducing the economic principle of supply. To understand supply, students need to think like producers and understand their motives, and why they make the economic decisions that they do.
(Pictures of groups sitting) The students were split into groups and each group operated as an independent firm looking to make a profit. The firms had to navigate the fixed and incurring variable costs associated with creating paper hats and generate as much revenue as possible. Students then solved to calculate their profit.
(Pictures of students standing) In a separate activity, students simulated the economic principle of Diminishing Marginal Returns (the decrease in productivity per worker that eventually occurs by continuously adding one more worker). Each team added one more worker per round to write the word "WHEAT" as many times as possible in the alloted time. After a certain amount of workers were added, students were able to identify when it became inefficient for additional workers to be added.
