It didn't take long on Tuesday night for Cooper Spagna to do what many people came to see him do. Shortly into the contest at Morgan Township on Tuesday evening against Andrean, Cooper Spagna received an assist from a teammate and beat the goalie for his 41st career goal as a Cherokee. With that goal, he surpassed the previous record holder, Ryan Weltzin. The crowd went crazy! The Cherokees weren't done, as Cooper scored later in the evening off of another outstanding assist and the defense locked down on the 59's. After 80 minutes of soccer, the Cherokee's shut out Andrean for their 5th shutout of the season.
On Thursday we celebrated Cooper Spagna’s record breaking career! Cooper was presented with a commemorative picture that reflected this achievement just prior to the game! We are so proud of you for your tenacity and grit on the soccer field, Coop!
